Secret of the Number Seven

Question 311: Why is the circumambulation, the walk back and forth between al-Safa and al-Marwa and the stoning of the Jamarat during pilgrimage all performed seven times? And why is the number of the days of the week and the number of the skies and the earths seven? And prostration during prayer is on seven bones, and the oft-repeated verses are seven and covenants of Solomon are seven as well. and I hope from Imam Ahmed al-Hasan that he answers this question and if he does, then God-willing, I will be from his supporters. May Allah support you.

Answer: In the Name of Allah, the Abundantly Merciful, the Intensely Merciful,
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May the peace and prayers of Allah be upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad, the Imams and the Mahdis.
The heavens are seven, therefore the other matters refer back to the heavens. So the circumambulation and the walk [between al-Safa and al-Marwa] are for requesting forgiveness and repenting for the sin of denial and negligence in remembering the pledge and the covenant. And they are seven in order for each circumambulation to coincide with one of the seven heavens.
So the human being who exists in the worldly sky has a body in this physical world or physical sky and has a spirit and it is his soul in the lowest end of the first heaven, and the spirit of the human being is that which manages his body. Therefore, the human being is present in the worldly sky and he is required to ascend to the seventh heaven to perfect his intellect and to know his Lord. Allah swt said, {It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] so that you reach your maturity, then further so that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before, so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason.} {The Holy Quran Surah Ghafir:67} This means that you may reach the ultimate seventh heaven, the heaven of the intellect.
Allah swt said, {And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship me.} {The Holy Quran Surah al-Zariyat:56}
This means except to know, as the nature of the human qualifies him to reach the ultimate seventh heaven. Therefore, his act of circumambulation and walking [between al-Safa and al-Marwa] are for him to declare his repentance, request for forgiveness and his readiness to strive in the way of Allah and on His straight path in order to reach the ultimate seventh heaven, the heaven of the intellect …
