Question: What should we ask from Allah? A request that pleases Allah?
Answer of Imam Ahmed Alhasan (a.s.):
Who found Allah and who knew Allah doesn’t need anything and doesn’t lose anything because he knew that Allah is everything, and who lost Allah and was ignorant about Allah didn’t find anything and he is losing everything and what is in all earth will not fill his poverty because he has become poverty itself.
And you find that every human according to his ignorance of Allah feels poverty and permanent lack which finds, because of his ignorance about Allah, only the material to fill it and in reality it is like salty water, whenever you drink from it, you will never feel quenched.
And the rich is only by Allah and from Allah. And who turns away from Allah will never find the real richness and he will still be out of breath, behind a mirage until he perishes in the heart of the desert.
The knowledge is everything that is why Muhammad (sawas.) said to Ali (a.s.): (“O Ali, an hour of contemplation/remembrance is better than one thousand year of worship.”).

And here someone can ask how can we know Allah? And we know this also from the answers of the Imams (a.s.), we know Allah through knowing His successor on His earth and submitting to this successor who is placed/assigned from Allah and going against this successor and being arrogant (of him a.s.) let us lose Allah and therefore we lose everything and we fall to the ground and remain lowering ourselves to the lowest of the low, like it happened to Iblis (l.a.) who were worshiping Allah in the Kingdoms with Angels until he was considered one of them (a.s.). and he (l.a.) is from Jinn, and was created from fire while Angels were created from light, and Iblis knew Allah, even spoke with Him, and as we read in the Qur’an that Allah ordered the Angels to prostrate to the successor of Allah, Who made him Qibla between them and Allah, and Iblis (l.a.) was with them, so all Angels prostrated except for Iblis who refused and was arrogant, so Allah addressed him (l.a.) “What prevented you from prostrating”? And he (l.a.) replied with ‘I’, ‘ego’ and this ‘ego’ made him an enemy to the successor of Allah who is assigned by Allah, and enemy of Allah, because it is, refusing the Order of Allah, so if you, O Iblis (l.a.), were better than the successor of Allah, is Allah unfair to His creation and chooses the one who is not competent and leaves the best out?!! And the test continues like this in Dunya with all the successors of Allah (swt.). There are people who accept the successor of Allah and there are others who say ‘Why did Allah choose this one and didn’t chose me?’ or ‘Didn’t choose the one who is richest and most famous?!!’ And this is what some ignorant followers of Iblis (l.a.) say today: — Why did Allah choose Ahmad Al-Hassan, and he is from the house of so and so from Al-Basra, and didn’t choose the famous Mr… whom people stand in line to kiss his hand?!!
This is how they said before them: (“How can he have kingship over us while we are more worthy of kingship than him and he has not been given any measure of wealth?”) The Holy Qur’an Surah Al-Baqara: 247. So Allah swt said: (“Indeed, Allah has chosen him over you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature.”) The Holy Qur’an Surah Al-Baqara: 247.
(“Are you more knowing or is Allah?”) The Holy Qur’an Surah Al-Baqara: 140.
